Wayne H. “Rusty” Scott, 85, 103 3rd Ave SW, Epworth, Iowa, died Saturday, May 26, 2012 at Finley Hospital in Dubuque, Iowa.
Friends and relatives of Rusty may call from 3 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Epworth, Iowa.
Services for Rusty will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 31, 2012 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Epworth, Iowa, with Pastor Corby Johnson officiating. Burial will be held in the Highview Cemetery in Epworth, Iowa, with full Military Honors afforded by the Epworth American Legion John White Post #656.
He was born September 30, 1926 in Epworth, Iowa, son of Fred H., and Amelia (Berger) Scott. He received his education in the Epworth High School. On November 7, 1947 he was united in marriage to Jeanne Kahrs at the Epworth United Methodist Parsonage in Epworth, Iowa. He was employed at the Dubuque Packing Company for 37 years. He was a very proud Navy Veteran, having served during World War II. He volunteered to be the first Tail gunner to fly over Hiroshima . He loved spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. He also loved to play baseball, and managed the Little League “Cubs” Baseball team for several years. He was a member of the Epworth American Legion Post #656. .
He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Scott of Epworth, IA; one son, Rick ( Lois) Scott of Epworth, IA; two daughters, Tyris (Bob) Cummings of Basco, IL and Tonja (Tony) Inmann of Kansas City, MO; and a special son, Jason (Emily) Scott of Prairie Du Sac, WI; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Raymond W. & Connie L. Scott on September 6, 1981, and Ronald Scott on August 17, 2011; 2 sisters in infancy and 1 brother, Walter (Margaret) Scott; a grandson-in-law, Angelo Lazano.
