Dallas G. Dolphin, 74, of 303 2nd Ave SE, Farley, Iowa died Monday, June 25, 2012 at 11:56 p.m. at the Finley Hospital in Dubuque, Iowa surrounded by his family.
Friends and relatives of Dallas may call from 2 to 8 p.m., Thursday, June 28, 2012 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Farley, Iowa, where a wake service will be held at 3:00 p.m., and the Farley Fire Department will meet at 7:00 p.m.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 29, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Farley, Iowa, with Rev. Dennis Cain officiating. Concelebrating will be Rev. Joseph McDermott, SVD. Burial will be held in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Farley, Iowa.
He was born March 29, 1938 in Monticello, Iowa son of Milton “Micky” and Dolores (Aschtgen) Dolphin. He received his education at St. Martin’s school in Cascade, Iowa. On September 8, 1962 he was united in marriage to Ruth A. Kramer at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Farley, Iowa, she preceded him in death on November 15, 1995. On September 20, 1997 he was united in marriage to Nancy (Ahmann) Link at St. Joseph’s Church in Farley, Iowa.
Dallas was employed at the John Deere Dubuque Works until his retirement in 1995. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish in Farley, and it’s Altar and Rosary Society, and the Tri-State Antique Car Association. He was a retired Volunteer of the Farley Fire Department and served on the Farley City Council for a number of years.
He was an avid Antique car lover. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Dolphin of Farley, IA; five sons, Mark “Fish“ (Linda) Dolphin of Farley, IA, Terry (Laurie) Dolphin of Asbury, IA, Jeff (Vicky) Dolphin of Farley, IA, Brian “Punky“ (Tami) Dolphin of Farley, IA, and Kevin “Herbie“ (Anne Dolphin of Peosta, IA; seven step children, Jane (Jim) Meyer of Pella, IA, Julie (William) Hoefer of Plymouth, MN, Janet Betts of Farley, IA, Pamela (Matt) Loehr of Bettendorf, IA, Patricia (Tony) McNealey of Eldridge, IA, Paul Link of Waterloo, IA, and Mike (Heather) Link of Eldridge, IA; 12 grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren; two sisters, Diane Turner of Las Vegas, NV and Donita (Steve) Kremer of Monticello, IA; three brothers, Richard Dolphin of Las Vegas, NV, Dan (Lori) Dolphin and Dean “Moe” (Catherine) Dolphin both of Dubuque, IA.
He is also preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Christopher John Dolphin; a brother, Darl Dolphin; a step daughter-in-law, Karen Link; and a brother-in-law, Lloyd Kramer.
A Dallas G. Dolphin memorial fund has been established.
