Milton S. Bertling, 81, of 107 East 9th Street, Monticello, Iowa, and formerly of Cascade, Iowa, died Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Jones County Regional Hospital in Anamosa, Iowa.
The family will greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until services Monday, August 6, 2012 at St. Martin’s Catholic church in Cascade, Iowa.
Services for Milton will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 6, 2012 at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Cascade, Iowa, with Rev. Jim Miller officiating. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Cascade, Iowa. Milton was born January 17, 1931 in Cascade, Iowa, son of “William and Cora (Johnson) Bertling. He received his education in the Cascade area schools. On may 1, 1981 he was united in marriage to Doloris Mae Rieniets. Milton was known as Mr. Fix-it. He was an avid Saint Louis Cardinal fan. He loved feeding his birds and helping Doloris in the garden and with wood working projects. He was a lifetime hunter and fisherman.
He loved his whole family and he was Dad to all of them.
He is survived by his wife, Doloris Bertling of Monticello, IA; six children, Ted (Suki) Lockwood of Lorton, VA, William (Theresa) Lockwood of Waukesha, WI, Nancy (Anthony) Lockwood of Henderson, NV, Cheri Tholen of Monticello, IA, Allen (Kim) Tholen of Marshville, NC, and Tami Fisher of Warren, MI; six grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; one sister, Rosie Kean of Roselle, IL.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Helen Miller; and 6 brothers, Ed, Ralph, Clarence, John “Bill”, Herbert and Robert Bertling. A Milton S. Bertling memorial fund has been established.
