Alan T. Kurt, 66, of Cascade, Iowa, died suddenly Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Regional Medical Center in Manchester, Iowa.
The family will greet friends and relatives from 8 to 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 16, 2016 at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Cascade, Iowa. The services for Alan will be held at 11:00 a.m., at Church with Rev. Douglas Loecke officiating. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Cascade, Iowa with Flag Presentation by the Cascade American legion Post #528.
Casketbearers for Alan will be Aaron Kurt, Josh Kurt, Ryan Topping and Tory Topping.
The Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, Iowa is in charge of arrangements.
He was born February 13, 1950 in Cascade, Iowa, son of Leo N and Hilda M. (Manternach) Kurt. He is a graduate of the former Aquin High School in Cascade, Iowa. On June 13, 1987 he was united in marriage to Ronda (Breitbach) Topping at St. Martin's Church in Cascade. Alan was a CNC Machinist and Programmer at Webber Metals in Cascade for 35 years until his retirement in Aug. 2011.
Alan's family was his greatest treasure. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Nothing made him happier than being surrounded by his family. He had a passion for old cars and loved cruising with his friends. He was well known for his quick wit and sense of humor which he never lost even while battling Parkinson's and Lewy Body. Alan was loved and respected by many and will be greatly missed.
He was a member of the National Guard for 6 years, a member of St. Matthias Parish in Cascade and the Cascade Tri-County Cruisers.
He is survived by his wife, Ronda Kurt of Cascade, Iowa; two sons, Aaron (Debra) Kurt of Monticello, IA and Josh Kurt of Cascade, IA; two step sons, Ryan (Amy) Topping and Tory (Abby) Topping both of Cascade, IA; 9 grandchildren, Kayla, Ashley, Lauren, Emily, Austin, Lilly, Trenten, Tanner and Adelyn; five sisters, Betty (Alan) Schockemoehl and Carol (Pat) Fenelon both of Dubuque, IA, Alice (Tom) Fennell of Iowa City, IA, Donna Kurt and Linda (John) Kearney both of Cedar Rapids, IA; two brothers, William Kurt of Arroyo Grande, CA and Loras (Joan) Kurt of Cedar Falls, IA.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Travis on November 22, 1996; two brothers, James Kurt and Patrick Kurt; a sister, Joyce Recker: his father-in-law, Elmer Breitbach; a sister-in-law, Pat Kurt; and a brother-in-law, Jim Recker.
An Alan T. Kurt memorial fund has been established.
