Obituary

Alice M. Klostermann, 93, of Cascade, Iowa, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, Tuesday, October 8, 2019, at Monticello Nursing and Rehab in Monticello, Iowa.

Visitation for Alice will be held from 3 to 8 p.m., Friday, October 11, 2019 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, Iowa, where a prayer service will be held at 2:30 p.m. and American Legion Auxiliary services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Friends may also call after 9 a.m., Saturday, October 12, 2019 at the funeral home.

Mass of Christian Burial for Alice will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, October 12, 2019 at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Cascade, Iowa, with Rev. Douglas Loecke Presiding. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Cascade, Iowa.

She was born May 19, 1926 in Cascade, Iowa, daughter of Earl and Anna (Kramer) Wall. She received her education from the Cascade Eastside School.  She was united in marriage to Melvin J. Breitbach and they later divorced. On August 30, 1958 she was united in marriage to Lawrence Klostermann.  He preceded her in death on December 11, 1981.  Alice was employed at Head start in Dubuque, Iowa, and at the Monticello Nursing and Rehab Center in Monticello, Iowa and Shady Rest Care Center in Cascade, Iowa.

She was a member of the St. Matthias Parish in Cascade, Iowa and the Cascade Legion Auxiliary #528 were she served as Vice President and Secretary.

She is survived by 6 children, Melvin J. "Bud" Breitbach of Monticello, Judy (Galen) Harms of Anamosa, Mary (Lee) Hinderman of Davenport, Charles Breitbach of Dubuque, Geraldine Gorman and Geralyn Puccio both of Cedar Rapids; 6 Step-children, Lois (Dave) Gavin of Bernard, Leo (Carol) Klostermann of Dyersville, Jean Weber, Jan Beaman both of Cascade, Larry (Linda) Klostermann of Centerville and Gary Klostermann of Dubuque; Step-daughter-in-law, Darlene Klostermann of Earlville; Step-son-in-law, Vince Manders of Dubuque; 14 grandchildren; 36 step-grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 3 great- great grandchildren; three sisters, Laura Eiben of Monticello, Jannette Weets of Anamosa and Elsie Chapman of Monticello; brother and sister-in-law, Joe (Marie) Coyle.

She is also preceded in death by her parents; son, George Breitbach; daughter, Sonya Hess; sister, Lillian in infancy; two brothers, Melvin and William Wall; step-son, Carl Klostermann; step-daughter, Mary Manders; son-in-law, Mike Gorman, step-son-in-laws, Flute Weber and Myrlen Beaman.
