Alma A. Green, 78, of Cascade, Iowa, died Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at 3:15 p.m. at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.

Friends and relatives of Alma may call from 3 to 7 p.m., Sunday, August 14, 2016 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, Iowa, where a wake service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friends may also call after 9 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Services for Alma will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 15, 2016 at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Cascade, Iowa, with Rev. Douglas Loecke officiating. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Cascade, Iowa.

Alma was born July 9, 1938, in Newton, Iowa, daughter of Harry and Anna (Nielsen) Kono. She received her education from Colfax High School. She worked at Aquin Elementary School as a cook for many years until her retirement.

She was a member of St. Matthias Parish in Cascade, Iowa. She was a very active member of the Cascade Garden Club.

She is survived by five children, Paula (Andy) Green Abrams of Byron, MN, Shelley (Russ) Green-Wise of Coralville, IA, Dominic (Mary) Green of Fremont, NE, Heath Green of Oskaloosa, IA, Peter (Carolyn) Green of Catonsville, Maryland; 3 grandchildren, Haley and Kyra Abrams, Henry Green; three sibilings, Ila Brandt of Baxter, IA, Lee Tharp of Newton, IA, and Kay Lewis of Searsboro, IA.

She is preceded in death by her parents; four siblings, Arline Foster, Lois Jean Hill, Leland Kono, Lowell Kono.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be given to Mercy Hospice Care Unit or Iowa City Hospice in memory of Alma Green.
