Alma was born on August 2, 1924, in Dyersville, Iowa, 2nd oldest of eight children of John and Elizabeth (Pottebaum) Trumm. On June 25, 1952 she was united in marriage to George Knepper at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Temple Hill, Iowa. She is a member of St. Matthias Parish.
As a pure, faith filled woman with strong country roots, Alma was an avid gardener and loved to share her produce with family, friends and neighbors. Anyone who visited was sent home with a package of home grown "goodies". She enjoyed canning and making jelly. She was fantastic at making homemade bread and cinnamon rolls. The grandchildren will remember her "bread, butter and applesauce". Although she wouldn't admit such, she was a skilled seamstress and made 1st communion dresses for her children, baptismal gowns for her grandchildren and even a wedding dress for one of her daughters. She was a fan of Johnny Cash, liked to "fiddle" with the harmonica and dance to country music. She had a strong faith with a deep devotion to Mary and the rosary, and by example passed her faith onto her family. Alma enjoyed being outdoors and knew that the little things in life were the most important. More than anything, she enjoyed her family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and made each one feel special.
She is survived by her husband, George Knepper of Cascade; nine children, Charles (Sue) Knepper of Cascade, Ruth (Doug) Nolte of Owatonna, MN, Cheri (Jay) Konzen of Dyersville, Phil (Lynn) Knepper of Worthington, Patti (Terrence) O'Meara of Bloomington, IL, Russ (Ann) Knepper of Peosta, Scot (Karen) Knepper , Matt (Vicki) Knepper and Kristi Knepper all of Cascade; 28 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; three siblings, Dorothy Yanda of Anamosa, IA, Millie Hosch of Cascade, IA and Lois (Lloyd) Manternach of Worthington, IA; four sisters-in-law, Betty Trumm and Ida Trumm both of Cascade, IA, Gladys Knepper of Dyersville, IA and Joan (John) Anstoetter of Dubuque, IA; one brother-in-law, Mike (Jean) Knepper of Dyersville , IA.
