Ann was born October 28, 1919 in Placid, Iowa, daughter of John and Mary (Mahoney) Carroll. She is a graduate of the former St. Martin's High School in Cascade, IA. She received her Teacher's Training at Clarke College in Dubuque, after which time she taught in one room school houses near Peosta and Worthington. On November 27, 1941 she was united in marriage to Eldon "Pete" Wolfe, the love of her life, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Worthington, IA. They farmed near Worthington for many years. He preceded her in death on December 8, 2009 after 68 years of marriage.
Ann was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and baking, and guests always knew there would be something good to eat at her home. She was also an excellent seamstress and quilter. Her other passion was gardening and she could be seen tending her flowers and tomatoes up until the final days of her life.
She loved spending time with her family and friends either in person or on the phone. In her later years three very special women enriched her life immensely. Grace Feldmann, Annette Even and Joan Lansing added great joy to her life especially as she became less able to venture out of her house. They regularly shared conversation, laughter and food.
She was a member of St. Paul's Parish and its Altar and Rosary Society.
She is survived by five children, David Wolfe of Asbury, IA, Don (Maryellen) Wolfe of Worthington, IA, Carol Shaw of San Diego, CA, Julie (Rich) Walters of Davenport, IA and Sue (Lee) Jennings of McHenry, IL; one brother-in-law, Ben Loecke of Cascade, IA; 11 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
She is also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Connie Wolfe; a son, Pete Wolfe; a daughter-in-law, Donna Wolfe; a son in law, Steve Shaw; and four siblings, Mary Burds, Joe Carroll, Alverna Breen and Frank Carroll.
