Anselm A. Willenborg, 99, of Dyersville, Iowa and formerly of Petersburg, Iowa, died Sunday, July 3, 2016 at 11:30 p.m. at Oak Crest Manor in Dyersville, Iowa.
Friends and relatives of Anselm may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2016 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa, where a wake service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friends may also call after 8:30 a.m. , Saturday at the funeral home.
Services for Anselm will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the Basilica of St. Francis Xavier in Dyersville, Iowa, with Rev. Dennis Quint presiding. Burial will be held in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Petersburg, Iowa.
He was born April 28, 1917 in New Hampton, Iowa, son of Edward and Mary (Bruggeman) Willenborg. He received his education at the SS Peter and Paul School. On June 15, 1943, he was united in marriage to Mary Ann Hoeger at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Earlville, Iowa. She preceded him in death on March 10, 1972. On February 18, 1977, he was united in marriage to Odeil Hoffmann at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Petersburg, Iowa. She preceded him in death on December 20, 2006. He farmed in the Petersburg area until retiring in 1981 at which time he moved to Dyersville and became a member of the St. Francis Xavier Parish.
He is survived by four children, Dennis (Carol Ann) Willenborg of New Vienna, Larry (LuAnn) Willenborg of Petersburg, (Leon) Zelda Kluesner of New Vienna, and (David) Grace Nelson of Minneapolis, MN., a son-in-law, Gerald (Sandy) Nichol of Dyersville; 14 grandchildren: (Mark) Christine Rolfes, of New Vienna, Ron Willenborg (fiance Jessica Roll) of Cedar Rapids, Andy (Julie) Willenborg of New Vienna, (Karl) Cathy Wilhelm of Farley, (Erik) Stacie Hull of Chicago, IL., (Marshall) Kelly Brown of Pittsburgh, PA., (Taylor) Elizabeth Burgin of Palo, Jason (Sarah) Kluesner of Manchester, Keith (Andrea) Kluesner of Peosta, (Steve) Carmen Lansing of Dyersville, Tony Kluesner of New Vienna, (Ted) Terese Kruse of Dyersville, Lila Wulfekuhle of Dyersville, and Matthew Boatman (fiance Rachel Morford) of Los Angeles, CA., 24 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren; 3 step children: John (Linda) Hoffmann of Earlville, Gary (Sally) Hoffmann of Dyersville, Carl Hoffmann of Cedar Rapids; 6 step grandchildren: (Jim) Katie Peters of Farmersburg, Mary Hoffmann D.V.M. ( fiance Derek Wessels) of Greeley, CO., Cody Hoffmann of Earlville, (Sean) Ashley Carey of Hiawatha, Adam (Joann) Hoffmann of Arlington, TX., Sara Stavely of Iowa City, 3 step great grandchildren and 1 brother, Harley (Rose Ann) Willenborg of Petersburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Glenda Nickol, 2 grandsons: Kurt F. Kluesner and Mark A. Willenborg, 1 grandson-in-law, Scott Wulfekuhle and 3 siblings: Modesta Loecke, Ernestine Krapfl and Delbert Willenborg.
