Carl J. "King" Manternach, 76, of Cascade, Iowa passed away, Monday, January 9, 2017 at his home in Cascade, Iowa.

Friends and relatives of Carl may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, Iowa, where a wake service was held at 2:30 p.m. Friends also called after 9:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Services for Carl will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 12, 2017 at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Cascade, Iowa, with Rev. Douglas Loecke officiating. Eucharistic Minister was Jacquie Manternach. Lector was Chuck Casey. Placing of the Pall was done by Karolyn Kramer, Eileen O'Connell, Donna Casey, Herb Manternach and Paul Manternach. Giftbearers were Shane Manternach and Robin Reif. Burial was held in Calvary Cemetery in Cascade, Iowa.

Casketbearers were Shaun Kramer, Nick Casey, Shane Manternach, Chris Casey, Brett Manternach, Todd Casey, Scott Casey and Kevin Casey.

Carl was born on July 25, 1940 in Cascade, Iowa, son of Harold N. and Luella (Koob) Manternach. He received his education from the former St. Mary's school in Cascade. He was employed by Manternach Plumbing and Heating in Cascade until his retirement.

He was a member of St. Matthias Parish in Cascade, Iowa. Carl was an avid race car fan and loved to play cards.

He is survived by five siblings, Mary Karolyn Kramer of Freeport, IL, Eileen O'Connell of Manor Care in Dubuque, IA, Donna (Charles) Casey, Paul (Kathy) Manternach and Herb (Jacquie) Manternach all of Cascade, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Delores Manternach on October 15, 1951; two brothers-in-law, Bernie O'Connell and Ron Kramer; two nephews, Andy and Toby Casey.
