Carl M. Koppes, 84, of rural Monmouth, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2026,at his home surrounded by his loving family
Visitation for Carl will be held from 3 to 8 p.m., Monday, January 19, 2026, at the Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, where a prayer service will be held at 2:30 p.m., and a Knights of Columbus Rosary be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will also continue after 9 a.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at the Funeral Home.
Services for Carl will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at St. Martin's Church in Cascade, Iowa, with Rev. Mark Osterhaus presiding. Burial will be Calvary Cemetery in Cascade, Iowa.
He was born December 2, 1941, at home in Jones County, Iowa, son of Raymond and Helen (Kelchen) Koppes. He received his education in the Temple Hill School. On June 12, 1963, he was united in marriage to Donna Holub at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cascade, Iowa.
The couple farmed in the Monmouth area all their lives. Family was his everything. Carl was a helping hand to anyone who needed help. He never met a stranger.
He was a member of St. Peter's Parish in Temple Hill, and a member of the Cascade Knights of Columbus-Council #930.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Koppes of rural Monmouth, IA; his four children, Gary (Angie) Koppes of rural Monmouth, Jill (Barry) Comried of Marion, Jodi (JD) Dolphin of Cascade and Curt (Teri) Koppes of Springville; 14 Grandchildren, Adam, Aaron, Andrew, Matthew & Zachary Koppes; Jordan and Kayla Comried; Levi, Lynsey, Skylar, and Bradley Dolphin; and Kyle, Alex and Mya Koppes; 11 Great grandchildren; his siblings, Merlin Koppes of Cascade, Paul (Sandy) Koppes of Monmouth, Phyllis (Marv) Ludwig of Kieler, WI, Donna (Jim) Schewe of Oxford Junction, Marilyn Staskal of Maquoketa; three sisters-in-laws, Judy Koppes and Brenda Koppes both of Monmouth and Judy (Jim) Betzner of Cascade; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Lawrence Koppes, Chuck Koppes, Dennis Koppes and Dave Koppes; and his father and mother-in-law, Don and Edith Holub.
