Dave J. "Ace" Leytem, 71, of Cascade, Iowa passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at his home in Cascade.

Friends and relatives of Dave may call from 3 to 8 p.m., Friday, September 22, 2017 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, Iowa, where a wake service will be held at 2:30 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Friends may also call after 9 a.m., day, at the funeral home.

Services for Dave will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 23, 2017 at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Cascade, Iowa with Rev. Douglas Loecke officiating. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Cascade, Iowa.

Dave was born June 26, 1946 in Cascade, Iowa, son of Harland and Rose Mary (Quint) Leytem. He is a 1964 graduate of Aquin High School in Cascade, Iowa. He began his career in food service at Thompson's food and B&M Groceries in Cascade, Iowa. After the closing of B&M he went to work for Hy-vee in Dubuque until his retirement.

He was a member of St. Matthias Parish in Cascade, Iowa and the Knights of Columbus Council #930.

Dave was an avid sports fan for the Cascade Cougars, Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Bears and Chicago White Sox.

He is survived by four brothers, Terry (Jill) Leytem, Wayne (Nancy) Leytem both of Cascade, IA, Bill (Lisa) Leytem of Asbury, IA, Greg (Julie) Leytem of Swisher, IA; five sisters, Sandy (Paul) Koppes of Monmouth, IA, Carol Annis of Cascade, IA, Linda (Marty) Hill of Dixon, IL, Lois Leytem of Dubuque, IA Julie Hartmann of Dubuque; and three sisters-in-law, Shirley Leytem and Mary Kay Leytem both of Cascade, IA, Sheri Leytem of Dubuque, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father Harland "Bub" Leytem on October 31, 1985 and his mother Rosemary on October 25, 2006; three brothers, Gary "Jake" Leytem on August 17, 2004; Robert "Bub" Leytem on July 9, 2012; Steve "Ben" Leytem on November 17, 2012; and two nephews, Rick Annis on October 8, 1987; Benjamin Leytem on October 14, 1989.
