Diane K. Lahr, 65, of Worthington, Iowa, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on, Sunday, December 31, 2023, at her home in Worthington, Iowa.
Visitation for Diane will be held from 3 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at the Reiff Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa, where the Worthington Fire Department will meet in a body at 6:15 p.m..
A Mass of Christian burial for Diane will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at the Basilica of St. Francis Xavier in Dyersville, Iowa, with Rev. Chris Podhajsky officiating. A Celebration of Life for Diane will be held at a later date.
Diane was born on November 24, 1958, in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of
Tom and Jeanette (Recker) Bell. She was a 1977, graduate of Beckman High School in Dyersville, Iowa. Diane went on to earn her Nursing degree at Northeast Iowa Community College in Peosta, Iowa. On August 2, 1980, she was united in marriage to Gary Lahr at the Basilica St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Dyersville, Iowa.
Diane was a Nurse at MercyOne Dubuque for 44 years, retiring in November 2023. She also volunteered at the Dyersville Recreation Center as an Aerobics instructor for many years. Diane was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who truly enjoyed spending time with her family. She also enjoyed camping with her family and friends. Diane enjoyed spending time on her family farm in her flower gardens.
Diane was a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish in Dyersville.
She is survived by her husband, Gary Lahr of Worthington; two children, Eric (Emily) Lahr of Worthington, and Morgan (Friend, Matt Aldrich) of Earlville; three grandchildren, Dashiel, Olive and Amelia; her parents, Tom and Jeanette Bell of Dyersville; three sisters, Deb (Dan) Geiser of Cedar Rapids, Renee (Friend, Brad Voss) Bell of Des Moines, Melissa (Taylor) Bell-Reinhart of Brooklyn, NY, brothers and sisters-in-law, Barb (Phil) Cheek of Florida, Dick (Karen) Lahr of Scotch Grove, Deb (Samuel) Gnagey of Indiana, Diane (Tob) Patzner of Graf.
She is preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law, Herman and Beverly Lahr; and brother-in-law, Brad Lahr.
The Lahr family would like to give a special thank you to her caregivers Tina Mead, Erin Ulbrich, Whitney Strong, Staff and Nurses at Hospice of Dubuque, and Nurses and Staff at Mercy 4 west for all the wonderful care and support they gave to Diane and her family.
