Obituary

Dorothy G. Gile Kremer, 90, of Cascade, Iowa passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at her home.

Visitation for Dorothy will be held from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., on Friday, December 20, 2024, at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Cascade, Iowa, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Mark Osterhaus presiding.  Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Cascade, Iowa.

She was born July 15, 1934, in Louisburg, Wisconsin, daughter of John and Margaret (Timmerman) Loeffelholz.  She attended Benton High School in Benton, Wisconsin.   On August 7, 1951, she was united in marriage to Charles Philip Gile in Benton, Wisconsin.  He preceded her in death on September 18, 1966.  On July 18, 1970, she was united in marriage to Edward F. Kremer at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cascade, Iowa.  He preceded her in death on November 26, 2012.

Dorothy was a very independent and self-sufficient woman.  She enjoyed watching game shows and doing puzzles.   She was an Avid Hawkeye basketball fan and also shared her husband's love for the CUBS.

She was a fantastic cook, and will be remembered for her awesome potato salad, cheesecake and Barney Googles (Nut bars), which she would rather bake than share her recipe's.  She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was a member of St. Matthias Parish and the Catholic Daughters of the America's Our Blessed Mother Court #1926.

She is survived by six children, Randy (Deb) Gile of Wyoming, IA, Pete Gile (& Ginny Duschner) of Cascade, IA, Dave Gile of Wichita, KS, Patricia (Kevin) Frommelt of Saint Michael, MN, John (Helen) Gile of Dubuque, IA and  Kay (Doug) Hunt of Cascade, IA; 22 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren and two more on the way; and 2 great-great grandchildren;  one son-in-law, Dave Bisenius of Dubuque, IA; Dorothy is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Marianne and Ed Welsh of Janesville, WI; brother and sister-in-law, Jackie and Joanne Loeffelholz of Dubuque, IA; sisters-in-law, Mary McCoy of Madison, WI and Jean Otting of Cascade, IA and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is also preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra (Gile) Bisenius and a grandson, Travis Kurt.
