Dorothy M. King, 93, formerly of Epworth, Iowa died Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Oakbrook Health and Rehabilitation Center in LaBelle, Florida. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, October 28, 2016 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Epworth, Iowa. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 29, 2016 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Epworth, Iowa, with burial at Highview Cemetery immediately following.
Dorothy was born May 29, 1923. She was co-valedictorian of the Epworth High School class of 1941. On September 12, 1942 she was united in marriage to George King Jr. The couple farmed in the rural Epworth area. She joined the Epworth United Methodist church in 1942, and was proud to have been the longest continuous living member. In 2009 she sold the farm and went to live with her son James and his family in Florida.
She is survived by five children: Doris McClun of Farley, IA, Marilyn (Mike) Palato of Hope Mills, NC, Carolyn Kearny of Hazel Green, WI, Janice Horner of Davenport, IA, James (Barbara) King of Sebring, FL, a daughter-in-law, Judy (Jim) Callahan of Epworth, IA, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband George, a son Randy King, and sons-in-law Jerry McClun and Don Shainker.
