Edna Mae Orr, 89, of Cascade, Iowa passed away peacefully Monday, September 18, 2017 at 5:45 a.m. at Shady Rest Care Center in Cascade, Iowa.
Friends and relatives of Edna Mae may call from 3 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, Iowa where an American Legion Auxillary service will be held at 4 p.m. and a wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friends may also call after 9 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 21st at the funeral home.
Services for Edna Mae will be held at 10:30 Thursday, September 21, 2017 at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Cascade, Iowa with Rev. Douglas Loecke Officiating. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Cascade, Iowa.
Edna Mae was born November 1, 1927 in Cascade, Iowa, daughter of Tommy and Mae (Tobin) Zoller. She received her education from St. Mary's School and the University of Dubuque. On March 1, 1949 she was united in marriage to Charles F. Orr at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cascade, Iowa.
She was a member of the St. Matthias Parish in Cascade and a member of the Cascade American Legion Auxiliary.
Edna Mae enjoyed visiting with all, sharing pictures and stories about her children and grandchildren. In earlier years, she enjoyed bowling and bingo with friends and neighbors. She was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church. Most recently, Edna Mae resided at Shady Rest Care Center and enjoyed visiting with friends and caregivers. In all of her travels, Edna Mae always returned to the center of her universe, Cascade!
She is survived by eight children, Diana Kay (Christopher Flynn) of San Jose, CA, Ken Orr of Cascade, IA, Becky (Paul Oberbroeckling) Orr of Denver, CO, Stan Orr, Patrick Orr both of Cascade, IA, Michael Orr of San Jose, CA, Nancy Otting of Mt. Juliet, TN and Ross (Shontele) Orr of Cascade, IA; Eight granddaughters, Amy, Erin, Allison, Helen, Madeline, Mia, Mollie and Charlee; one great granddaughter, Sidney.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles F. Orr on December 14, 1994, two daughters in infancy, Sarah and Mary Beth Orr; one sister, Annabelle "Doll" O'Shea.
The Orr family would like to thank Sherry Kelchen and the staff of Hospice of Dubuque and Shady Rest Care Center for all the wonderful care they gave to Edna Mae.
