Elizabeth A. "Betty" Steffen, 92, of Farley, Iowa passed away Monday, March 13, 2017 at 8:00 p.m. at Hawkeye Care Center in Dubuque, Iowa.
Friends and relatives of Betty may call from 3 to 8 p.m., Friday, March 17, 2017 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Farley, Iowa, where a wake service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friends may also after 9 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Services for Betty will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Farley, Iowa with Rev. Michael Schueller Presiding. Burial will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Farley, Iowa.
She was born September 1, 1924 in Dyersville, Iowa, Daughter of Arthur and Elsie (Beckmann) Esch. She received her education from Xavier High School in Dyersville, Iowa. On April 6, 1948 she was united in marriage to Vincent John Steffen at St. Francis Xavier in Dyersville, Iowa. He preceded her in death on March 28, 1981.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Farley, Iowa and its Altar and Rosary Society. She worked at ERTL Toy Company for twenty-two years until her retirement in 1990. Betty loved the color blue, working outside in her garden and singing.
She is survived by two sons, Steve (Agnes) Steffen of Peosta, IA, Lee (Amy) Steffen of Farley, IA and Ann (Don) Pfundstein of Camdenton, MO; 8 grandchildren, Michael (Angie) Steffen, Sara (Brad) Steffen – Hjalmarson, Philip and Rachel Pfundstein, Christy, Carmen, Caitlin and Craig Steffen; two step great grand-children Keegan, Addison one sister, Dorothy Wagner of Bloomington, MN; sisters and brothers-in-law, Joan Esch of Dyersville, IA, Herb (Norma) Steffen of Farley, IA, Roger (Katie) Steffen) of Luxemburg, IA and Mary Ann Feltes of Anamosa, IA and many nieces and nephews.
She is also preceded in death by her parents; a brothers, Arthur (Dorothy Esch – Pfeiler) Esch, George (Ramona) Esch and James Esch, a sister, Helen (Ed) Ramler; brothers-in-law, Bill Wagner, Harry (Marce) Steffen and Don Feltes.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Sunset Park, Hawkeye Care Center and Hospice of Dubuque for the wonderful care they gave to Betty.
A memorial fund has been established in lieu of flowers.
