Emmett J. Grant, 83, of Cascade, Iowa, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, January 31, 2022 at his home in Cascade, Iowa.
Visitation for Emmett will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, Iowa.
Mass of Christian burial for Emmett will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Temple Hill, Iowa with Rev. Mark Osterhaus presiding. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He was born on April 7, 1938, in Bernard, Iowa, son of James E. and Mary M. (Heitz) Grant. He received his education at St. John's School in Placid, Iowa. On October 8, 1959 he was united in marriage to Dennise J. Malone at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lamont, Iowa. Together the couple farmed in the rural Temple Hill area. Emmett also worked at ERTLS in Dyersville, Iowa for 15 years until his retirement in 1978.
He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Temple Hill, Iowa.
He is survived by his wife, Dennise Grant of Cascade; eight children, Roxanne Klostermann of Dyersville, Daniel (Ann) Grant of Delhi, Julie (Paul) Oswald of Monticello, David (Annette) Grant of Cedar Rapids, Ann (Al) Brus of Dubuque, Trisia (Martin) Lahr of Coggon, Diane (Greg) Miller of Walford, and Thomas Grant of Monticello; 27 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; four sisters, Agnes Peiffer of East Troy, WI, Theresa Morrison, Mary Ann (Don) Erschen both of Dubuque, and Charlene (Mike) Kearney of Marion; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Helle of Hopkinton, Sherry (Ed) Schaul of Manchester, Alty Malone, Mona Malone both of Cedar Rapids, and Dennis (Karol) Malone of Arizona.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Elizabeth Grant in infancy; and two infant still births; a grandson, Logan Grant; two daughters-in-law, Cheryl Grant and Theresa Grant; one son-in-law, Don Klostermann; four brothers-in-law, Don Peiffer, Lee Morrison, Phillip Malone and Melvin Malone.
