Francis "Frank" J. Naber, 89, of Dyersville, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at his home in Dyersville, Iowa.
Visitation for Frank will be held from 2 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 9, 2024, at the Reiff Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa. Visitation will also be held on Friday after 9 a.m. at the Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian burial for Frank will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 10, 2024, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville, Iowa, with Rev. Chris Podhajsky Presiding and Rev. Paul Baldwin concelebrating. Burial will be held in St. Francis Cemetery in Dyersville, Iowa with full military honors afforded by the Dyersville American Legion Post #137.
Frank was born February 20, 1935, at home on the family farm in Dyersville, Iowa, son of Clement and Ella (Kramer) Naber. He received his education from Xavier School in Dyersville, Iowa. He was a United States Veteran having served in the Army for six years from 1955-1961. On October 24, 1959, he was united in marriage to Anne Joyce Turnis at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fillmore, Iowa. Together the couple farmed on the Naber family farm in rural Dyersville, Iowa.
He was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Parish in Dyersville, Iowa. Frank played the Accordion with the group "Betty and the Country Nabers," for many years. He continued to play on his own at several nursing homes and events in the area.
He is survived by his wife, Anne Joyce Naber of Dyersville, IA; four children, Wayne Naber of Cedar Falls, IA, Roger Naber of Dyersville, IA, Carolyn (Pat) Turnis of Hopkinton, IA and Steve (Tonya) Naber of Dyersville, IA; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Stephen (Arlene) Turnis of Dubuque, Mary Kay (Willie) Connolly of Cascade, Elaine Steffensmeier of Dyersville, David (Linn) Turnis of Bloomington, IL, Peter Turnis of Arizona, Margie (Ed) Stoll of Cascade, Jane (John) Pisarik of Mt. Vernon, Julie (Ralph) Hosch of Cascade, Barb Turnis of Cedar Rapids, and Joan Turnis of Dubuque.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Richard Naber in 1989, and Dennis Naber in 2021; one daughter-in-law, Jean Naber in 2021; one brother, Henry (Helen) Naber; six sisters, Jeanette (Ralph) Boge, Martha Jane (John McGrane) (Louie Ernzen) McGrane-Ernzen, Agnes (Gerald) Weber, Mary (Don) Weber, Betty (Eugene) Krapfl and Anita Mae (Lawrence) Schaeffer; brothers-in-law, Don Steffensmeier, and Tom Turnis.
