Obituary

Gladys M. Knepper, 93, of Dyersville, Iowa passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at Ennoble Manor in Dubuque, Iowa.

Visitation for Gladys will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at the Reiff Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa.

Services for Gladys will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at the Basilica St. Francis Xavier in Dyersville, Iowa, with Rev. Chris Podhajsky presiding.  Burial will be held in St. Paul's Cemetery in Worthington, Iowa.

Gladys was born on October 30, 1930, in Holy Cross, Iowa, daughter of Aloysius and Leonette (Kluesner) Gassmann.  She received her education in the Luxemburg schools.  On August 12, 1950, she was united in marriage to Paul F. Knepper at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Worthington, Iowa.  Together the couple farmed in rural Worthington, Iowa. He preceded her in death on November 21, 2006.

Gladys was member of the St. Francis Xavier Parish in Dyersville, Iowa.  Gladys was also a member of the Dyersville Catholic Daughters of America St. Rose Court #350.

Gladys also worked at the Dyersville Hospital for 35 years and was a volunteer server at St. Francis School lunch program.  She was an early riser and greeted everyone she saw.  Gladys was a great cook and baker, you never left her house hungry and she always had homemade cookies ready for anyone that came to visit.  She was a person that was devoted to her faith and watch EWTN mass daily.  She also loved to watch game shows.

She is survived by eight children, Guy (Laurie) Knepper of Williamsburg, IA, Glen (Rosemary) Knepper of Lost Nation, Jessica (Wayne) Kelley of Davenport, Jennifer (Barry) Brown of Olathe, KS, June Knepper of Cascade, Todd (Ann) Knepper of Worthington, Paul J. Knepper of Marion, and Heidi (Bill) Kluesner of Farley, 25 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren; siblings, Lyle Gassmann of Dubuque, Mary Agnes (Jim) Schnier of Clinton, and Jerry Gassmann of Bettendorf; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bev Gassmann of Mississippi, Marge Gassmann of Asbury, George Knepper of Cascade, Mike Knepper of Dyersville, Joan Anstoetter of Dubuque, and Ida Trumm of Cascade,

She is also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Jodi Hosch on August 3, 2003; siblings, Eileen (Bill) Besler, Robert Gassmann, Marvin (Pat) Gassmann, Sylvia (Bob) Fitzgerals, LeRoy Gassmann, John (Gracie) (Betty) Gassmann, Kenny Gassmann, Connie (Merle) Lueck, Betty (Butch) Gotto; father and mother-in-law, William and Ida Knepper; sisters and brothers-in-law, Alma Knepper, Loras (Mary) Knepper, Irene (Ernie) Recker, Helen (Frank) Carroll, Carl (Marie) Knepper, Rosalyn (Eddie) Ludwig, Walt (Mary) Knepper, John Anstoetter, Jean Knepper, and John Trumm.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Basilica St. Francis Xavier or St. Paul's Parish.
