James "Stuart" Redden, 70, of Manchester, Iowa and formerly of Delhi, Iowa, passed away, Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at the Cedar Valley Hospice House in Waterloo, Iowa.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, May 3, 2025 at a later at Delhi Landing in Delhi, Iowa.

Stuart was born August 16, 1954 in Waterloo, Iowa, son of James and Jacqueline (Dunbar) Redden.  He received his education in the Cedar Falls area Schools.  On September 12, 1987 in Vail, Colorado he was united in marriage to Patty A. Smajd.  She preceded him in death on July 22, 2023.

Stuart was employed at Schoitz Engineering for over 30 years.  He enjoyed living on Lake Delhi in the Cedars.  He had a fascination for cars, and enjoyed Knoxville races and NASCAR races.  He also enjoyed his Black Velvet.

He is survived by a daughter, Angela (Joe) Saunders of Cedar Falls, IA; step sons, Chad Smith and Jason Smith both of CA; his siblings, Jane (Gary) Tangen of Cedar Falls, IA and John (Linda) Redden of Lakewood, CO; and his brothers and sisters-in-laws, Ray (Lorri) Smajd of Des Moines, IA, Mary (Stan) Gramke of Grand Blanc, MN, Debbie Smajd of Brighton, CO and Shirley Smajd of Ankeny, IA.

He is also preceded in death by his parents; a son, Nathan Redden and a sister-in-law, Shelly Burke.

In lieu of flowers a James Stuart Redden memorial fund has been established in his name.
