Jeanette Ann Nilles, 86, of Dyersville, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 8, 2024, at MercyOne Senior Care in Dyersville, Iowa.
Visitation for Jeanette will be held from 1 to 4 p.m., on Friday, July 12, 2024, at the Reiff Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa, where a prayer service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Visitation will also be held after 8:30 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Mass of Christian Burial for Jeanette will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at the Basilica St. Francis Xavier in Dyersville, Iowa, with Rev. Philp Agyei presiding, and Deacon Rick Nilles assisting. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery in Dyersville, Iowa.
Jeanette was born on October 31, 1937, in Epworth, Iowa, daughter of Peter and Sarah (Johnson) Then. She received her education from St. John's in Placid, Iowa, and graduated from Epworth High School in Epworth, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Joseph Nilles on April 18, 1959, at St. John's Catholic Church in Placid, Iowa.
Jeanette was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Parish in Dyersville, Iowa
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Joe Nilles of Dyersville; four children, David Nilles of Manchester, IA, Rick (Elizabeth) Nilles of Holland, IA, Sarah Stephan of Reinbeck, IA, and Sonya (Lance) Belew of Lake Delhi, IA; three grandchildren, Sarah, Michael, and Renato; 4 step grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; one sister, Mary Jane (Bob) Gleason of Dyersville; two brothers, Phil (Janet) Then of Epworth, and Jim (Linda) Then of Placid; sisters-in-law, Nancy Then of Dyersville, Mary Kay Then, Judy Then both of Epworth and Bonnie Nilles of Crestview, KY; brother-in-law, Mike Lehmann of Peosta.
She is preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Michael Stephan; five brothers, Joe, Leo, Bill, and Frank Then, Tom (Janell) Then; sisters, Alice (Peter) Ament, Mildred (Bill) Eklund, Sr. Gretta Then, and Ruth Lehmann; father and mother-in-law, Joseph and Bertha Nilles; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph (Elizabeth "Betty") Nilles, Richard (Evelyn) Nilles, and Donald (Helen) Nilles.
