Obituary

Jerry E. McClun, 78, of Farley, Iowa entered into God's loving arms on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at his home in Farley, Iowa with his family by his side.
The family will greet friends and relatives from 3 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Farley, Iowa and after 11:00 a.m., Wednesday June 15, 2016 at the Funeral Home. The services for Jerry will be held at noon on Wednesday at the Reiff Funeral Home with Pastor Diane Grace and Deacon, Dave McGhee Presiding. Burial will be held in Highview Cemetery at a later date.
Jerry was born October 31, 1937 in Monroe, Iowa, son of Raymond and Jessie (Zimmer) McClun. He received his education in Newton, Iowa area schools. On December 29, 1962 he was united in marriage to Doris King at the Epworth United Methodist Church. He was employed as a welder at Dubuque Boat and Boiler for 10 years and later at Bradly Iron Works for 30 years.
Jerry loved spending time with his wife in the basement in their wood shop. Between them they have made several "family" keep sakes, including a cradle for each of their children. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife. They have been all over Iowa, Minnesota, S. Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia to visit family.
Jerry also enjoyed sitting outside and visiting with neighbors and anyone who walked by, he also enjoyed watching his birds. He loved their family pet "King", who was his buddy. Jerry's pride and joy was his wife, Doris of 53 ½ years, their 3 children and their spouses and his 5 grandchildren.
He was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Doris McClun of Farley, IA; three children, Kathleen (Donald) Wilhelm of Epworth, IA, Renee (Nathan) Wilson of Blaine, MN and David (Lisa) McClun of Sumter, SC; five grandchildren, Jessie McClun (Max Hymen) of Sumner, IA, Stephanie Wilson (Mitchell Rogalsky) and Jenifer Wilson both of Minneapolis, MN, Preston McClun and Sarah McClun both of Sumter, SC; a sister, Betty Whitehead of Meadows of Dan, VA; his mother-in-law, Dorothy King of LaBelle, FL; sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara McClun of Newton, IA, Marilyn (Mike) Palato of Hope Mills, NC, Carolyn Kearney of Hazel Green, WI, Janice Hoerner of Davenport, IA, James (Barbara) King of Sebring, FL and Judy (Jim) Callahan of Epworth, IA; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Debby McClun in infancy; a brother, Vernon McClun; two sisters, Carroll Case and Phyllis McClun in infancy; his father-in-law, George King Jr; a brother-in-law, Randy King; and his dog and buddy, King.
A Jerry E. McClun memorial fund has been established.
