John E. Trumm, 81, of Cascade, Iowa, died on Monday, May 9, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, Iowa.
Friends and relatives of John may call from 3 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 12, 2016 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, Iowa, where a wake service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friends may also call after 9 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Services for John will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 13, 2016 at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Cascade, Iowa, with Rev. Daniel J. Knepper officiating. Burial will be held in the Calvary Cemetery in Cascade, IA.
John was born on September 13, 1934, son of John and Elizabeth (Pottebaum) Trumm. He received his education at St. Peter's in Temple Hill. On January 14, 1956 he was united in marriage to Ida Knepper at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Worthington, Iowa. He started farming in 1956 and was a devoted, loving husband and father who loved working the land and raising his family on the farm.
He was a man of strong faith who had a love for farming, fishing and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He is a member of St. Matthias Parish.
He is survived by his wife, Ida Trumm of Cascade; Eleven children, Jacquie (Herb) Manternach, Nancy (Harley) Leytem and Bill (Deb) Trumm all of Cascade, IA, Larry (Cindy) Trumm of Farley, IA, Phyllis (Stan) Quincy of Platteville, WI, Jean (Denny) Brackemyer of Bernard, IA, John "Jay" (Sue) Trumm, Mary Ann (Keith) Aitchison, Ralph (Janice) Trumm, Jim (Amanda) Trumm and Josh (Karla) Trumm all of Cascade; 37 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; four siblings, Alma (George) Knepper of Cascade, IA, Dorothy Yanda of Anamosa, IA, Millie Hosch of Cascade, IA and Lois (Lloyd) Manternach of Worthington, IA; three sisters-in-law, Betty Trumm of Cascade, IA, Gladys Knepper of Dyersville, IA and Joan (John) Anstoetter of Dubuque, IA; one brother-in-law, Mike (Jean) Knepper of Dyersville , IA.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his father and mother-in-law, William and Ida Knepper, a sister, Mary Reiter; two brothers, Leroy Trumm and Robert Trumm; brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred Reiter, Larry Yanda, Mary Trumm, Rosene Trumm, Ed Hosch, Carl (Marie) Knepper, Irene (Ernie) Recker, Walt (Mary) Knepper, Frank (Helen) Carroll, Ed (Rosalyn) Ludwig, Loras (Mary) Knepper and Paul Knepper.
A John E. Trumm memorial fund has been established.
