John F. Walsh, 93, of Peosta, Iowa, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Oak Crest Manor in Dyersville, Iowa.
Friends and relatives of John may call 8 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Epworth, Iowa.
Services for John will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Reiff Funeral Home in Epworth, Iowa with Rev. Rodney Allers officiating. Burial will be held in St. Joseph's Prairie Cemetery in Zwingle, Iowa with military honors afforded by the .
John was born January 27, 1924 in Zwingle, Iowa, son of William C. and Catherine F. "Rena" (Murphy) Walsh. He received his education from the rural country schools in Zwingle and Peosta area and finished his education at St. Clement's in Bankston. He served in the Army Air Corp, Marines and the Army. Her served his country during the Korean War.
He was a member of New Melleray Parish.
He is survived by three sisters, Mary Ellen, Angella and Anna Marie Walsh all of Peosta, IA; one brother, William C. (Karen) Walsh of Peosta, IA; nieces and nephews, Pat (Toni) Walsh of Platteville, WI, Cindy (Ryan) Yoder of Lone Tree, IA, Bill (fiancé Michele Patterson) Walsh Jr. of Cuba City, WI, Carrie (Tyler) Schmidt of Rochester, MN; three great nephews Caleb and Wyatt Yoder and Sawyer Walsh; three great Nieces Taylor and Hanna Walsh and Emma Frain.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Benedict Walsh in June 1959, Francis Walsh in May 1949, and Clement Walsh in May 2006; two sisters, Anastasia Walsh in November 1927 in Infancy and Catherine Walsh in July 2012.
A John F. Walsh memorial fund has been established in lieu of flowers.
