Judith Ann "Judd" Thurm, 79, of Epworth, Iowa, passed away of a broken heart on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at her home in Epworth, Iowa.

There will be no public viewing for Judd.  A private service for Judd will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023, at the Reiff Funeral Home in Epworth, Iowa with Rev. Jim Bergin S.V.D. and Rev. Sonny DeClass S.V.D.  Burial was held in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Epworth, Iowa.

Judd was born August 11, 1944, in Galena, Illinois, daughter of Lawrence and Rosella (Henry) Ennis.  They died in 1947 of Carbon Monoxide leaving seven children who were all separated living in different foster homes.  She received her education from St. Joseph's Catholic Schools in Farley, and went on to attend Capri College in Dubuque, Iowa.  On April 4, 1964, she was united in marriage to Richard Thurm at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Farley, Iowa.  Together the couple had three children, Lisa, Beth, and Bryan Thurm.

Judd was a member of the St. Patrick's Parish in Epworth.  She had a passion for volunteering and enjoyed her time that she spent at Hospice of Dubuque and serving as President of the Epworth Food Pantry.  She also enjoyed making homemade cards and sewing.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Richard "Spinner" Thurm of Epworth; one son, Bryan "Beaver" Thurm;  one daughter, Beth (Brian) Bries; former daughter-in-law, Michele Thurm; Special Friend, Carolyn Waechter; grandsons, Bailey Boy (Bailey) Thurm, Nick (Georgie) Thurm, Mitch Williams, Jordan (Jackie) Bries, and Jed Bries; granddaughters, Hope Thurm, Jadyn Thurm; Samantha (Pat) Ryan, McKayla Seymour, Chloe, Lilly, Lexi, and Maddie Bries; 6 great grandchildren; four siblings, Richard (Marge) Ennis, David (Anita) Ennis, Darlene Dossey, and Jean Braden; brothers and sisters-in-law, Daniel Thurm, Don (Paisley) Thurm, Catherine (Richard) Hejda, and Cathy Thurm.

Judd is preceded in death by her parents; one daughter; Lisa Seymour; one grandson of 28 days, Nathan Richard Thurm; her beloved cat, Beau; and special friends Jane, Vivian, Delores and Peg; a brother, William Ennis, two sisters, one in Infancy, and Rosemary (Merlin) Hohman; father and mother-in-law, Wayne and Verda (Anderson) Thurm; two brothers-in-law, Robert Thurm, and James Thurm; and one nephew, Steven Ennis.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Fr. Jim Bergin, Dr. Kumor, Dr. Hermann, Tony Heiar, Nurses and Staff at Hospice of Dubuque, and the Reiff Funeral Home for all the wonderful care and support they gave to Judd.
