Karen M. Smith, 77, of Monticello, Iowa, formerly of Dubuque and Farley, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at Monticello Nursing and Rehab Center in Monticello, Iowa.

Visitation for Karen will be held from 10 a.m. to Noon on Friday, April 26, 2024, at the Reiff Funeral Home in Epworth, Iowa.

Services for Karen will be held at Noon, on Friday, April 26, 2024, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Epworth,  Iowa with Rev.  David Ambrose presiding.  Assisting Deacon will be Nick Elliott.  Burial will be held at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Epworth, Iowa.

Karen was born March 28, 1947, in Farley, Iowa, daughter of LeRoy and Anna Marie (Steffen) Smith.  She went on to work at the Dubuque Opportunity Center,  Garfield Opportunity Center, Mercy Hospital, Dubuque Inn, and St. Patrick's Lunch Program all in Dubuque, Iowa.  Karen loved Embroidering, Puzzles, playing Kings Corners, and Chinese Checkers.  She had a wonderful sense of humor and always had jokes

She is survived by five siblings, Virgil (Sheila Danis) Smith, Mildred "Mitzie" Hosch, Sally Coyle, and Louetta "Kay" Smith all of Cascade; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents,  five siblings, Jim (Vida) Smith, Dorothy "Dutch" (Paul) Lehman, Marge (Carl) Frank, Virginia (Melvin) Leibold, and Lavon (Charlie) Hoefer; one sister-in-law,  Mary Smith; two brothers-in-law,  David Hosch and Melvin Coyle.
