Lawrence F. Clements, 86, of Oak Park Place, Dubuque, Iowa and formerly of Epworth, Iowa, died at 8:53 a.m., Saturday, March 19, 2016 at his home in Dubuque, Iowa.
Friends and relatives of Larry may call from 3 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Epworth, Iowa, where a wake service will be held at 2:00 p.m., a Knights of Columbus rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friends may also call after 9 a.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
Services for Larry will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Epworth, Iowa, with Rev. Sonny DeClass, SVD Presiding. Homilist will be Rev. Jim Bergin, SVD. Concelebrating will be Rev. Michael Schueller, Rev. Matheus Ro, SVD, and Rev. Ray Dischler, SVD. Private burial will be held in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Epworth, Iowa with full military honors afforded by the Epworth John White American Legion Post #650.
He was born January 30, 1930 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, son of Arthur E. and Adeline M. (Kreibich) Clements. He attended Washington rural School in LaCrosse County, WI. On October 3, 1956 he was united in marriage to Donna Mae Servais at St. Joseph Ridge in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. He was employed as a salesman for Spahn and Rose Lumber Company in Dubuque until his retirement in 1990.
He is a Marine veteran, having served in the Korean War as a Corporal from 1952 to 1955. He was a member of the Epworth John White American Legion Post #650. He was also a member of St. Patrick's Parish in Epworth and its Altar and Rosary Society, the Epworth Knights of Columbus-Council #7823, a charter member of the Tri-State Garden Club and the Tri-State Hosta Club, he and Donna were also a sponsor couple for Marriage Encounter. He was a former volunteer of the Epworth Volunteer Fire Department for six years and the Epworth City Council.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Clements of Dubuque, IA; six children, twins, Maria (Jack) Smith of Epworth, IA and Monica (John) Daly of Dubuque, IA, Timothy (Julie) Clements of Fairmont, MN, Theresa (Jeff) Chapman of Epworth, IA, Patrick (Ardyce) Clements of Onalaska, WI, and Andrew (Annette) Clements of North Liberty, IA; 23 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one sister, Ellen Kratz of Colorado Springs, CO; a sister-in-law, Rita Clements of Moline, IL; brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul (Clare) Servais of Milwaukee, WI, Everett (Barb) Servais of LaCresent, MN, Emma Brockman of Eau Claire, WI, Barbara Barrett of Marshfield, WI and Veronica (Charles) Besch of Overland Park, KS.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his father and mother-in-law, Arthur and Anne Servais; one brother, Arthur A. Clements; and two sisters, Marilyn Rybold and Arleen Kish; brothers-in-law, William Rybold, Myron Brockman and Steve Barrett; and a sister-in-law, Maureen Servais; and 2 great grandchildren.
