Leonard Steven Bonk age 64 died peacefully at his home in rural Bernard Iowa on December 12, 2023.  He was born in Beaver falls Pennsylvania  where he spent his childhood in Pennsylvania until his family relocated to Southern California in the mid-70s there he graduated from Azusa high School in 1977. Shortly after that Leonard met his soulmate of 45 years and fell madly in love with Lucille they were happily married for 28 years until 2022 when death took them apart. Leonard was preceded by his wife both parents and a son-in-law. He is survived by his four children, Elizabeth Marie (Edward) Buckreis of Fontana, CA,  Howard Lee Walker of Bernard, Ia, Jackie Jean Walker of Maquoketa and Ralph Douglas (Hazel) Walker of Redlands, Ca. Five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and three siblings John (Judy) Bonk, Annmarie Doran of Las Vegas and Albert Bonk of Fernley, NV.  Leonard was a free-spirited soul; hippy at heart and was a true "Dead Head" who traveled many times up and down the coast in his Volkswagen bus to see his favorite band "The Grateful Dead".  Leonard loved live music cold beer and good times. In 1992 he moved to a place called Leisure Lake in Bernard Iowa and became a true "Laker" at a place where the party never ends and that is where he stayed until his passing; Leonard lived a good life!

There will be a celebration of life for Leonard at a later date.  The Reiff Funeral Home of Peosta, Iowa is assisting the family with arrangements.
