Obituary

Lois M. Hosch, 91, of New Vienna, Iowa, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Shady Rest Care Center in Cascade, Iowa.

Friends and relatives of Lois may call from 3 to 7 p.m., Friday, December 15, 2017 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa, where a wake service will be held at 2:45 p.m. Friends may also call after 9 a.m., Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Lois will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 16, 2017 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in New Vienna, Iowa, with Rev. John O'Connor Presiding. Burial will be held in St. Boniface Cemetery in New Vienna, Iowa.

Lois was born June 6, 1926 in Worthington, Iowa, daughter of Edward and Louise (Kirsch) White. She graduated from St. Paul's High School in Worthington, IA in 1944. She was a rural school teacher. She was united in marriage to George Hosch on April 27, 1949 at the St. Paul's in Worthington, IA. Together they farmed in rural New Vienna until they moved to town in 1976. He preceded her in death on September 3, 2003.

She was a member of the St. Boniface Parish and its Altar Society. Lois volunteered at St. Boniface School for many years. She was a charter member of St. Mary's Hospital auxiliary and also helped at the hospital gift shop. Lois was a member of the St. Boniface quilters and the Heritage House quilters. Sewing and gardening were some of Lois's favorite things.

She is survived by two sons, Earl (Joan) Hosch, Gene (Sara) Hosch both of New Vienna, IA, one son-in-law, Pete Huettl of Madison, WI; 10 grandchildren, Nicholas (Alecia) Huettl, Paul Huettl, Philip (Katie) Huettl, Karla (Dan) Hagerty, Sara (Luke) Domeyer, Lisa (Tim) Bernhardt, Brett (Lauren) Hosch, Tina Hosch (Fiance James Conway), Abby (Dustin) Harle and Jared Hosch; 16 great grandchildren; three siblings, Janice Tegeler of Dyersville, IA, Ann (Wayne) Klaren and Harry (Mary Lou) White both of Worthington, IA.; three sisters-in-law, Mary White of Dyersville, IA., Julie Hosch of Cascade, IA and Katie Knipper of Dyersville, IA.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Joyce Huettl; one granddaughter, Paula Hosch; one brother, Elmer White; one sister, Delores (Justin) Runde; brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry Tegeler, Harry (Irene) Hosch, Margaret (Don) Koopmann, Eddie (Millie) Hosch, Mary Claire (LeRoy) Trumm, Rosie (John) Koopmann, John Hosch and Larry Knipper.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice of Dubuque and the amazing staff at Shady Rest who treated Lois like their own family.
