Loras F. Gudenkauf, 77, of Cascade, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Dubuque, Iowa.

Friends and relatives of Loras may call from 2 to 7 p.m., Sunday, January 14, 2018 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, Iowa, where a prayer service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friends may call after 9 a.m. at the funeral home on Monday.

Services for Loras will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 15, 2018 at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Cascade, Iowa with Rev. Douglas Loecke officiating. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Cascade, Iowa.

He was born on February 26, 1940, in Monticello, Iowa son of Edward and Lucille (Trumm) Gudenkauf. He received his education from St. Mary's in Cascade, Iowa. He was united in marriage on June 19, 1962 to Mary Lea Recker at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Ryan, Iowa. Loras farmed and also worked as a mechanic for over 25 years. He also drove bus for Western Dubuque school district during his retirement. In his legacy Loras has given the gift of life to others through organ donation.

Loras enjoyed his tractor and going on tractor cades. He also enjoyed playing cards, going out for dinner and spending time with his grandsons.

He was a member of the St. Matthias Parish in Cascade, Iowa.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Lea Gudenkauf of Cascade, IA; two children, Richard Gudenkauf of Cascade, IA and Rhonda (Shane) Toms of Cedar Rapids, IA; two grandsons, Tyler Andrews and Sawyer Toms; one brother, Eugene (Anita) Gudenkauf; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bernadette (Robert) Staner of Cascade, IA, Joyce (Tony) Feldman of Earlville, IA, James Rollinger of Cascade, IA and JoAnn (Donald) Knipper of Hopkinton, IA.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Lavone Rollinger, father and mother-in-law, Leo and Levona Recker; brother-in-law, Kenneth Recker; sister-in-law, Sandy Rollinger.
