Loras A. Kramer, 83, of Epworth, Iowa, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at his home after suffering a stroke in February.

Visitation for Loras will be held from 3 to 8 p.m., on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at the Reiff Funeral Home in Epworth, where a prayer service will be held at 2:30 p.m.  Visitation will also be held after 9 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Loras will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Epworth, Iowa, with Rev. Michael Schueller presiding. Burial will be held at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Epworth, Iowa.

Loras was born on December 21, 1939, in Dyersville, Iowa, son of Clarence "Clem" and Irene (Riesberg) Kramer. He graduated from Epworth High School in 1958.  On September 16, 1961 he was united in marriage to Mary Ann Muller at St. Clements Catholic Church in Bankston, Iowa.  He retired from John Deere Dubuque works after 32 years.

Loras was a member of the St. Patrick's Parish in Epworth, Iowa, he served on the Parish Council, a member of the CEW community, he served on Wildwood Acres Assoc.board, a charter member of the Epworth Gun Club and was a proud member of AA's association for 32 years.

In his younger years he enjoyed Slow Pitch softball, fishing, camping and deer hunting.  As of last fall he still walked the hills and valleys searching for ginseng.  He also made many friends while enjoying the slot machines.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Mary Ann Kramer of Epworth; five children, Chris "Pointy" Kramer of Epworth Jeff and Joan Kramer of Bernard, Rodney "Hot Rod" (JoAnn) Kramer both of Epworth, Dawn (Steve) Biermann, and Shawn (Tim) Kluesner both of Peosta; 10 grandchildren, Pete (Caitlyn), Rob, Matt (Val), Craig, Cody (Raegan), Mitchell Kramer, JD and Carley Kluesner, Dawson and Audrey Biermann; 3 great grandchildren, Ayda, Jason and Daniel Kramer; six siblings, Dick (Janet) Kramer of Epworth, Bob (Marcie) Kramer of Dubuque, Nancy (Ralph) Gotto of Burnsville, MN,  Duane (Kathy) Kramer of Cascade, Karen Bell of North Liberty and Alan (Doris) Kramer of Epworth; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean (Marvin) Kramer, and Joan (Gerald) Gaul both of Farley, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Loras was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Brian "Bugsy" Kramer; a grandson, Ryan Kramer; father and mother-in-law, George and Marcella (Hoefer) Muller; brother-in-law, John Muller, and one nephew Mike Oberbroeckling.

In lieu of flowers a Loras A. Kramer memorial fund has been established.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Dubuque along with all the health care professionals, who cared for Loras and last four months.  Also to all the family and friends for their love and compassion they gave to Loras and his family.
