Mark A. "Fuzzy" Fern, 64, of Farley, Iowa passed away Thursday, November 10, 2016 at 10:15 p.m. at his home in Farley, Iowa surrounded by his family after a seven year battle with Lung Cancer.
Friends and relatives of Fuzzy may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, November 14, 2016 at Reiff Funeral Home in Farley, Iowa, where a wake service will be held at 1:30 p.m.
Services for Fuzzy will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Farley, Iowa with Sr. Benjamin Duschner Presiding. A private burial will be held at a later date at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Farley, Iowa.
Fuzzy was born January 5, 1952 in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Earl and Elizabeth (Fox) Fern. He received his education from St. Joseph Catholic School in Farley, Iowa and Graduated in 1970 from Western Dubuque High School in Epworth, Iowa. On November 24, 1973 he was united in marriage to Pam Schroeder at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Farley, Iowa.
He is a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Farley, Iowa.
He is survived by his wife, Pam Fern of Farley, IA; two children; Ali (Aaron) Billmeyer of Greeley, IA, Adam Fern of Farley, IA; 3 grandchildren, Alex Fern, Erin and Landon Billmeyer; his father-in-law, Bill Schroeder of Farley, IA; two brothers, Douglas (Janet) Fern of Dubuque, IA, and Jess Fern of Streator, IL; one sister, Peri (Jack) O'Connel of Bankston, IA; thirteen brothers and sisters-in-law, Jayne Fern, Randy (Annie) Schroeder, Sharon (Al) Grissanti, Bob Schroeder, Steve (Sharon) Schroeder, Mike (Linda) Schroeder, Mark (Linda) Schroeder, Nancy (Tom) Brown, Darla Hermsen, Pat (Ann) Schroeder, Tom (Janette) Schroeder, Brian Schroeder, and Sam Schroeder.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Tom Fern; two sisters, Erin Fern and Sue Ann Fern; his mother-in-law, Mary Schroeder, a brother-in-law, Mark Hermsen; and one nephew, John Fern.
The family would like to extend a thank you to Tim from Hospice of Dubuque and Dr. Christine Holm of Medical Associates Oncology, Dr. Toby Campbell of the University Wisconsin Madison and all of Fuzzy's great friends for all the care and support given to Fuzzy during his battle with Cancer.
