Martha J. “Marty” Pfab, 76, of Epworth, Iowa, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2026 at MercyOne Medical Center in Dubuque, Iowa.

Visitation for Martha will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Epworth, Iowa, where a prayer service will be held at 2:30 p.m., and a Parish rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be held from 9 to 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Martha will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Epworth, Iowa, with Rev. M.J. Groark presiding. Burial will be held in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Epworth.

Martha was born July 14, 1950 in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of Cletus and Mary [Brimeyer] Simon. She is a graduate of Wahlert High School. On July 15, 1978 she was united in marriage to Harvey Pfab at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Davenport, Iowa. He preceded her in death on September 1, 2012.

Marty was born with cerebral palsy, with speech and mobility difficulties. She spent countless hours with a speech and physical therapist to learn to speak with her disability. She was a great mother, and would do anything for her children, and was a great care taker for her husband who struggled with Type 1 Diabetes. The community of Epworth rallied around her, they would get her mail, take her shopping, etc. She had a contagious smile.

She is survived by three children, Adam [Jessica] Pfab of Coralville, IA, Nicole (Wade) Johnson of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Christina [Stephen] Gerbracht of Ames, IA; five grandchild, Addison and Henry Johnson, Lauren, Hannah, and Paul Gerbracht; a brother, Vincent (Yvonne) Simon of Ames, IA; three sisters, Patricia Fox of Wichita, KS, Nancy Tybor of Naperville, IL, and Katie (John) Dinkel of York, PA; a sister-in-law, Marcella "Peggy" (Michael Houge) Pfab of Portland, OR. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother-in-law, Terrence Tybor; her father and mother-in-law, Joseph and Agnes (Duschen) Pfab; brothers and sisters-in-laws, Callista [Wendall] [Callista] Ambrosy and Howard Pfab, Bernadine "Bernie" (Lester) Ambrosy of Bernard, IA, Alverna (Joseph) Schuster of Liberty, MO. In lieu of flowers a Martha J. Pfab memorial fund has been established.
