Mary I. Drexler's Obituary
Mary I. Drexler, 87, of Dyersville, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Oak Crest Manor in Dyersville, Iowa.
Friends and relatives of Mary may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, October 12, 2017 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa where a wake service will be held at 3:30 p.m. and the Farley American Legion will meet in a body at 7:00 p.m. Friends may also call after 9 a.m. on Friday at the Reiff Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial for Mary will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 13, 2017 at Basilica St. Francis Xavier in Dyersville, Iowa, with Rev. Dennis Conway presiding. Burial will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Farley, Iowa.
Mary was born on June 15, 1930, in Cascade, Iowa, daughter of Joseph and Carmelita (Hoffman) McMullen. She was a graduate of St. Martin's High School and the University of Dubuque with a Bachelors in Arts degree. She went onto teach at the rural county schools in White Water Township and later taught in the Dubuque Community School District for 29 years. She was united in marriage to Wayne Drexler on June 4, 1955 at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Cascade, IA. The couple enjoyed spending time in Guttenberg at their summer home, especially spending quality time with family and friends.
She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish in Dyersville, Iowa.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne Drexler of Dyersville, IA; four sons, Douglas (Sharene) Drexler of Spread Eagle, WI, and their children, Samantha, Ben and Shannon, Daniel (Donna) Drexler of Bettendorf, IA, and their children, Abigail, Olivia, Eleanor and Anastasia, Dean (Pam) Drexler of Safe Harbor, FL, and their children, Amy, Shelley, Sarah and Alex, Wayne Drexler Jr. of Iron Mountain, MI; two great grandchildren, Connor and Khloe; three sisters, Jane Slauson of Webster City, IA, Kathy (Jim) Funke of Edgewood, IA, Pat (Dan) Ott of Madison, WI; two sister-in-law, Charlotte McMullen of Sherrill, IA and Joyce McMullen of Cascade, IA.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Mary Jean (Ed) Gansen; two brothers, Bob McMullen and Thomas J. McMullen, one brother-in-law, Duane Slauson.
