Michael J. Oberbroeckling, 57, of Farley, Iowa passed away Monday, July 4, 2016 at his home in Farley, Iowa after a sudden illness.
Friends and relatives of Michael may call from 2 to 8 p.m., Thursday, July 7, 2016 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Farley, Iowa, where a wake service will be held at 2:00 p.m., the Farley American Legion Post #656 will meet in a body at 7:00 p.m. Friends may also call after 9:00 a.m., on Friday, July 8, 2016 at the Funeral Home.
Services for Michael will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 8, 2016 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Farley, Iowa with Rev. Michael Schueller presiding. Burial will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery Farley, Iowa with full military honors afforded by the Farley American Legion Post #656.
He was born June 8, 1959 in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Leonard L. and Jean (Miller) Oberbroeckling. He is a 1977 graduate of Western Dubuque High School in Epworth, Iowa. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1978 and served in the Persian Gulf war and was Honorably discharged in 1982.
He is survived by his son, Marvin Oberbroeckling of Dubuque, IA; mother and father, Jean and Marvin Kramer of Farley, IA, four brothers, Tom (Cheryl) Oberbroeckling of Marion, IA and Rick (Wendy) Oberbroeckling of Dyersville, IA, Kevin Kramer of Bettendorf, IA, and Marty Kramer of Iowa City, IA; two sisters, Sherry (Dave) Menke of Cascade, Iowa, Karla (Jack) Golden of Florence, AR, and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Leonard L. Oberbroeckling on May 12, 1960.
In lieu of flowers a Michael J. Oberbroeckling memorial fund has been established.
