Obituary

Nancy M. Koopmann, 83, of Farley, Iowa passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Stonehill Health Center surrounded by her family.

Visitation for Nancy will be held from 3 to 7 p.m., on Friday, July 5, 2024, at the Reiff Funeral Home in Farley, Iowa.  Visitation will also be held after 8:30 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Services for Nancy will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Farley, Iowa with Rev. Michael Schueller presiding.  Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Farley, Iowa.

She was born on April 22, 1941 in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of Howard and Eleanor (Gotto) Skahill.  She received her education from St. John's High School in Peosta.  She married Daniel J. Koopmann on April 30, 1960, at Holy Family Catholic Church, New Melleray, rural Peosta.  He preceded her in death on September 29, 2003.

Nancy was a homemaker while her children were young, and later worked for Western Dubuque School District.  Nancy enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, she was an avid reader, and loved animals. She was a fabulous cook and treated her family to wonderful Sunday dinners.  She was also a skilled piemaker and had a recipe published in a national magazine.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Farley.  Nancy was also a former member of the Dubuque County Library Board.

She is survived by her seven children: Lisa (William) Ploessl of Durango, Jill (Bill) Bell of Farley, Brian (Deb) Koopmann, of Gretna, NE, Douglas (Karen) Koopmann of Peosta, Dana (Ted) George of Dubuque, Sarah (Ron) Hollenback of Farley, and Barry (Lindsay) Koopmann of Golden Valley, MN; 20 grandchildren: Lauren (Lorenza) Strother, Collin (Megan) Lewey, and Jeffrey Ploessl; Shane (Lisa) Bell, Vanessa (Eric) Kloser, Erica (Alex) Hansen, and Miranda (Wyatt) Skrtich; Damon (Logan) Koopmann, Peyton and Avery Koopmann; Leah, Maya, and Olivia George; and Andrew Hollenback and Emma (Nathan) Hollenback-Betts; Frances, Sadie, and Samuel Koopmann; Charlotte and Alexandra Koopmann; 7 great-grandchildren with one on the way; four siblings: Timothy Skahill of Des Moines, Janice (Steve) Timmerman of Lake Geneva, WI, Steven (Marilyn) Skahill of East Dubuque, IL, William Skahill of Peosta; brothers- and sisters-in-law: Margie Skahill of Des Moines, Kathy Kean of Epworth, Lois (Jerome) Kramer of Dyersville, Patrick (Deanna) Koopmann of Dubuque, Gerald (Joann) Koopmann, Ambrose (Marlene) Koopmann, and Thomas (Helen) Koopmann all of Epworth, Fred Koopmann, and Steve Koopmann both of Bennett, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Brock Charles Lewey; sister-in-law, Sister Shawn Marie Koopmann; brother-in-law, James Kean.

The family would like to thank the staff at Ellen Kennedy Living Center, Stonehill Health Center Memory Care Unit, and Hospice of Dubuque.
