Norbert W. Lampe

(August 10, 1935 – May 15, 2026)

Norbert (Norb) Lampe, 90, of Dubuque (formerly of Epworth) passed away Friday, May 15, 2026 at Hawkeye Care Center.

Norb was born on August 10, 1935 to parents William and Anna Lampe in Bellevue IA.

He met Linda Reeg in a one-room school house in Bellevue. He married Linda on June 29, 1957. After marrying they moved from Bellevue to Maquoketa to Dubuque and finally settled in Epworth in 1962.  Norb and Linda were married 62 years.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children; Angie (Bob) Papenthien, Jenny (Todd) Konrardy, Jodi (Jim) Boffeli and Doug (Jennifer) Lampe.

Grandchildren; Heidi (Eric) Copeland, Jordan (Shelby) Papenthien, Cody (Nic) Noonan, Riley Konrardy, Conor (Jessie) Boffeli, Clint (Katherine) Boffeli, Carson Boffeli, and Lily Lampe.

Great grandchildren; Tayler and Skyler Copeland, Kirra and Paxton Papenthien, Leo, Ally, Ike and Abe Noonan, Eleanor and Charlotte and baby Boffeli due in September, and Luca Boffeli.

Two sisters-in-law; Arlene Victor and Maryetta Lampe.

He is also survived by Janice Kringle, a companion he met at Eagle Pointe Place.  They shared many wonderful times together.

Norb was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Linda, siblings; Mercedes (Alvin) Herrig, Helen (John) Daugherty, Mary (Arnie) Sturm, Richard (Velma) Lampe, Marcella (Babe) (Dwayne) Junk, and Larry Lampe.

Also preceded by his parents-in-law, Edna and William Reeg, in-laws; Bill (Marion) Reeg, Bob (Darlene) Reeg, Ed (Dorothy) Reeg, Carlyle (Betty) Reeg, Perly (Katie) Reeg, Cletus Victor, LeRoy (Jeanne) Reeg.

Norb was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Epworth, IA for most of his life.

Norb was employed by Clinton Engines and then was hired by John Deere Dubuque Works. This job provided a great life for his family. Not one to coast by, he worked a few other jobs during shutdown and or strikes.  After retirement he worked for Western Dubuque High school in ground maintenance.  He was meticulous about the sports fields.

Norb was an Epworth volunteer fireman and in the Epworth Jaycee's. Norb and Linda were the Town Grand Marshals for the Epworth Town and Country parade in 2016.

Norb loved a good cold Milwaukee's Best Light beer and it wouldn't say it was the best if it wasn't! He loved a good card game, mushroom hunting, road trips to Doug's basketball games, Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball. He liked to sit in his garage and visit with people going by.  You could hear him saying boop d boop and got everyone saying it too. He was a social person.

Also, you were late if you weren't 15 minutes early.

We wish to thank Hospice, Eagle Pointe Place and especially Hawkeye Care Center where the care and staff were exceptional. We also want to thank dad's neighbors in Epworth who helped him stay in his home until the move to Dubuque whether it be shoveling snow, delivering communion, visiting or coming over when dad called with an emergency. We especially want to thank Beth and Tom Simpson, Susie Kramer and the Hartman's.

Dad was a kind soul who will be missed.

Norb did not want a memorial service so instead the family asks you to share a memory and raise a beer to a fun and wonderful man. Reiff Funeral Home in Epworth, Iowa is assisting the family.  Memorials may be sent to the charity of your choice.
