Patricia A. “Pat” Loes, 87, of Cascade, Iowa, passed away at her home on Sunday, October 26, 2026, surrounded by the family she cherished so deeply.

Visitation for Pat will be held from 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday, November 1, 2026, at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Cascade, Iowa, where a prayer service will be held at 1:30 p.m. and a Nurses Honor Guard will be held at 4:00 p.m. by the Jones County Nurses Honor Guard. Visitation will also be held from 9 to 10 a.m. on Monday, November 2, 2026, at the Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be held for Pat at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Anthony Kruse presiding and Rev. Mark Osterhaus as homilist. Burial will be held at a later date. The Reiff Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She was born February 24, 1939 in Anamosa, Iowa, daughter of Aaron G. and Carlyn (Devaney) Cover. She received her education in the former St. Martin’s School in Cascade, and is a graduate of the Mercy School of Nursing in Dubuque, Iowa. She was employed as a Registered Nurse at the John McDonald Hospital in Monticello, Heritage Manor in Asbury, Evergreen Care in Monticello and Shady Rest Care Center in Cascade, and later taught nursing at northeast Iowa Community College in Peosta, Iowa.

On November 5, 1960 she was united in marriage to Frederick A. Loes. The couple farmed in the rural Cascade area.

She was a member of St Matthias Parish, where as a couple they participated in PPA and CEW, Marriage encounters.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Rick Loes of Cascade; nine children, Laurie (Richard) Wegman of Cascade, Lisa (Ralph) Jones of Ames, Jeff (Laura) Loes and Brad (Sarah) Loes both of Cascade, Jodi (Mark) Hayes of East Dubuque, IL, Eric (Amy) Loes of Bernard, Kris Loes (& Michael Ruiz) of San Antonio, TX, Trevor Loes of Davenport, and Marc (Rebecca) Loes of Cascade; 20 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one sister, Peggy Lighthart of Omaha, NE; one brother-in-law, Jon (Donna) Loes of Cascade; one sister-in-law, Linda (Greg) Reinberg of St. Louis, MO.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Tom Cover, Jim Cover and Sr. Betry Cover; and one brother-in-law, Eugene Lighthart.
