Paul R. Peiffer, 77 ,of Cascade, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Unity Point Finley Hospital in Dubuque, Iowa.

Visitation for Paul will be held from 3 to 8 p.m., Monday, August 17, 2026, at the Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, Iowa, where a prayer service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Visitation will also be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Services for Paul will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Temple Hill, Iowa, with Rev. Anthony J. Kruse officiating. Burial will be held in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Temple Hill, Iowa.

He was born April 26, 1949 in Monticello, Iowa, son of Henry and Adeline (Koob) Peiffer. He received his education in the St. Peter’s School in Temple Hill, Iowa. On June 6, 1980 he was united in marriage to Barb Thurston at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Temple Hill, Iowa.

He was a devoted farmer and proud steward of the land he loved near Temple Hill. The farm was truly his life, and some of his happiest moments were spent there with his grandson, tinkering and working on his beloved 1937 tractor in anticipation of entering it in the Cascade Hometown Days. He was a diligent and hardworking man, he never believed in putting off until tomorrow what could be done today. His faith was the foundation of his life; he faithfully attended mass daily and made it a point to attend the funeral of every fellow parishioner, offering his presence and support in their time of loss.

Above all, Paul cherished his family and was very dedicated to them . He especially treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren, he felt family time was the best, and it created memories that will live on in their hearts forever.

Paul was a former member of the men’s Tug-O War Team in Temple Hill, bring home many trophy’s, he also coached the women’s team (which is where he met his wife, Barb). He was also a member of St. Peter’s Parish in Temple Hill, Iowa, A member of the Cascade Knights of Columbus Council #930, and the 4th Degree Dubourg Assembly #573.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Barb Peiffer of Cascade, IA; three daughters, Jennifer Peiffer of Cascade, Marie Peiffer of Scotch Grove and MaryKay Peiffer of Cascade; three grandchildren, Ben and Wyatt Zirkelbach and Josie Peiffer; one sister, Eileen (Dave) Steffen of Cascade and nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Elmer Peiffer and Vincent Peiffer.
