Phillip J. Brunsman, 59, of Farley, Iowa, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Dubuque Specialty Care in Dubuque, Iowa.
Friends and relatives of Phil may call from 2 to 8 p.m., Monday, September 4, 2017 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Farley, Iowa where a wake service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friends may also call after 9 a.m. on Tuesday at the Reiff Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial for Phil will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Farley, Iowa, with Rev. Michael Schueller presiding. Burial will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Farley, Iowa.
Phil was born on August 16, 1958, in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Vernon and Norma (Goedken) Brunsman. He was a 1976 graduate of Beckman Catholic High School in Dyersville, IA. He was united in marriage to Betty Hellmann on October 17, 1987 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Holy Cross, IA.
Phil was formerly employed at Ertl's Toy Company for 25 years and the Diamond Jo Casino which he greatly enjoyed. Phil loved socializing with many people and keeping up on news and local events. He loved traveling and truly enjoyed every trip he went on.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Farley, Iowa.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Brunsman of Farley, IA; one daughter, Tracy (Matt Kayser) Brunsman of Renton, WA; his mother, Norma Brunsman of Dyersville, IA; two brothers, Ron Brunsman of Hopkinton, IA and Wayne (Denise) Brunsman of New Vienna, IA; three sisters, Janet Brunsman of Dyersville, IA, Karen (Glen) Hahn of Dyersville, IA and Connie (Roger) Rivard of Bloomington, MN; father and mother-in-law, Charlie and Mary Hellmann of Holy Cross, IA, two brothers-in-law, Mike Hellmann of Dubuque, IA and Wayne (Teresita) Hellmann of Holy Cross, IA; two sisters-in-law, Barb Hellmann and Rhonda (Tim) Tranel both of Dubuque, IA; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Vernon Brunsman on February 19, 2017, one great nephew, Benjamin Brunsman on September 1, 2008.
