Russell J. Ungs, 55, of Guttenberg and formerly of Luxemburg passed away Monday, July 8, 2024, at Imagine the Possibilities Home in Guttenberg.

Visitation for Russell will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Monday, July 15, 2024, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Luxemburg, Iowa. Where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Tyler Raymond officiate.  Private burial will be held on Tuesday in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Luxemburg, Iowa.

Russell was born on February 27, 1969, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Marvin and Iva (Deutmeyer) Ungs.  He was a graduate of Edgewood-Colesburg High School in Edgewood, Iowa. He had a love for cats and reading.

He is survived by one brother, Scott (Kaylee) Ungs of New Vienna; one sister, Karri Burkhart of Sioux Falls, SD; nieces and nephews, Rick (friend Melissa) Schilling, Paige and Dayton Ungs, Matthew and Audrey Burkhart; aunts and uncles, Marilyn Prier of Dyersville, Frank (Joy) Deutmeyer of Anamosa, Joyce Klosterman Brennan of Manchester, Carol Vorwald of New Vienna, Fred (Bonnie) Deutmeyer of Dyersville, Ken (Margie) Deutmeyer of Guttenberg, and Mary Jane Westhoff of Dyersville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; paternal grandparents, Al and Emma (Bretch) Ungs; maternal grandparents, Edward and Irma (Goedken) Deutmeyer; step maternal grandmother, Delores Schlarmann Tegeler Geistkemper Deutmeyer, aunts and uncles, Leon and Phil Deutmeyer, Gerald Prier, Richard Klosterman, Robert Ungs, and Fred Vorwald.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the Nurses and staff at Imagine the Possibilities Home and St. Croix Hospice for all the wonderful care and support they gave to Russell.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to St. Croix Hospice in memory of Russell Ungs.
