Ruth A. Urbain, 88, of Epworth, Iowa died Monday, June 26, 2017 at 11:54 p.m. at Manorcare Health Services in Dubuque, Iowa.
Friends and relatives of Ruth may call from 2 to 8 p.m., Thursday, June 29, 2017 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Epworth, Iowa, where a wake service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friends may also call after 9 a.m., Friday at the funeral home.
Services for Ruth will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 30, 2017 at St. John's Catholic Church in Placid, Iowa with Rev. Michael Schueller presiding. Rev. Eugene Kutsch will be concelebrating. Burial will be held in St. John's Cemetery in Placid, Iowa.
Ruth was born December 26, 1928 in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of George and Ella (Berg) Kutsch. She is a graduate of the former IC Academy in Dubuque, Iowa. On April 11, 1964 she was united in marriage to Jerome Urbain at St. Columbkille's Catholic Church in Dubuque, Iowa.
She was employed at the former Dubuque Packing Company for several years. She enjoyed helping to serve at Parish funeral dinners and attending the monthly dinners with her classmates. She enjoyed playing cards with her grandchildren and playing bingo.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Parish in Epworth, Iowa.
She is survived by her husband, Jerome Urbain of Epworth, Iowa, 3 children, Joanne (John) Miller of Davenport, IA, and their children, Jamie, Jana and Jay Miller; John (Van) Urbain of Epworth, IA; and Joyce (Randy) Frasher of Cascade, IA and their children, Samantha and Josey Frasher; her sister-in-law, Margie Kutsch of Dubuque, IA and sister and brothers-in-law, Mary Katherine Lassance of Epworth, IA, Donna Flynn of Dubuque, IA, Elaine Decker of Fountain Hills, AZ, Jane Sweeney of Epworth, IA, Ellen and Don Lindauer of Cascade, IA, Nora (Bruce) Cottrell of Dubuque, IA, Joe O'Brien of Cascade, IA, and Bill (Karen) Adams of Dyersville, IA.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Jeanette (Leo) Heitzman, Ethel (Joe) Spautz, a twin sister, Rose (Ryan) Keuter, brothers, George Kutsch, Robert Kutsch and Eldon Kutsch; sisters-in-law, Joanne Adams and Monica O'Brien and brothers-in-law, Dave Lassance, John Flynn, Bud Decker and Lloyd Sweeney.
