Susan McCarthy Sullivan, 54, of Peosta, Iowa died at 12:25 a.m., Monday, July 25, 2016 at her home in Peosta, Iowa surrounded by her loving family.
Friends and relatives of Sue may call from 3 to 8 p.m., Friday, July 29, 2016 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Peosta, Iowa, where a prayer service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friends may also call after 9 a.m., Saturday, July 30, 2016 at the Church. The Reiff Funeral Home in Epworth, Iowa is in charge of arrangements.
Funeral Mass for Sue will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 30, 2016 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Peosta, Iowa with Rev. Richard Kuhn officiating. Burial will be held in St. John's Cemetery in Centralia, Iowa.
Sue was born February 8, 1962 in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of Robert and Charlene (Brady) McCarthy. She received her education from East Dubuque Elementary and East Dubuque High School. On June 8, 1985 she was united in marriage to Michael Sullivan at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Dubuque, Iowa. She was employed by the Hodge Company, at the John Deere Gift Store.
Sue enjoyed the outdoors and loved all animals, especially her birds and dogs.
She was an active member of St. John the Baptist Parish in Peosta, Iowa; she was bookkeeper for 12 years there.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Sullivan of Peosta, IA; two children, Adam (Nicole) Sullivan of Mission, KS and Beth Sullivan of Cedar Falls, IA; a brother, Bob (Vicki) McCarthy of East Dubuque, IL; brothers and sisters-in-laws, Sue Sullivan Rethinger of Tigard, OR, Tom Sullivan of Thornton, CO, Bob (Anita) Sullivan of Dubuque, IA, Pat Sullivan of Sioux Falls, SD, Mark (Jane) Sullivan of Overland Park, KS, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother-in-law, Dr. Paul Rethinger and a sister-in-law, Annette French Sullivan.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Dubuque Humane Society in Sue's memory.
