Thomas L. Ludwig, 81, of Dyersville, Iowa, died Friday, November 25, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, Iowa.

Friends and relatives of Tom may call from 2 to 8 p.m., Monday, November 28, 2016 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Farley, Iowa, where a wake service will be held at 2:00 p.m.

Services for Tom will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Farley, Iowa, with Rev. Michael Schueller officiating. Burial will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Farley, Iowa, with full Military honors accorded by the Farley American Legion Post# 656.

Tom was born June 21, 1935 in Farley, Iowa, son of Urban J. and Lucille (Ostwinkle) Ludwig. He received his education in the rural Farley country schools. He served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1960. On April 15, 1961 he was united in marriage to Sharon Elgin at St. Clements Catholic Church in Bankston, IA. He farmed all his life in the rural Farley and Dyersville area.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Farley.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Ludwig of Dyersville, IA; five children, Lori (Kevin) Eggert of Anamosa, IA, Lisa Busch of Orfordville, WI, Tami (Brian "Punk") Dolphin of Farley, IA, Dean (Kelly) Ludwig of Bernard, IA and Kris "Chip" Ludwig of Dyersville, IA; 6 grandchildren, Heather (Ryan) Olver, Joseph and Katie Busch, Brittany (Brandon Gaul) Dolphin, Bryce Harrington, Bailey Ernst; 2 great grandchildren, Lane and Lakely Olver; one sister, Kay Becker of Hopkinton, IA; two brothers, Bob (Lois) Ludwig, Wayne (Carol) Ludwig both of Dyersville, IA; seven sisters-in-law, Dorothy "Dottie" Ludwig of Farley, IA, Dorothy Elgin of Dubuque, IA, Rosemary Kruse of Bankston, IA, Lou Ann Deutmeyer of Dyersville, IA, Betty (Dave) Ludwig of Worthington, IA, Linda Elgin of Dubuque, IA, and Madonna (Dan) Gibbs of Farley, IA; five brothers-in-law; Robert (Gladys) Elgin of Bankston, IA, Donald (Mae) Elgin of Dyersville, IA, Willis (Dorothy) Elgin of Delhi, IA , Marvin Elgin of Bankston, IA, and Vince Ehrlich of Dubuque, IA, and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, William P. "Bill" Ludwig, father and mother-in-law, Nick and Stella Elgin; four brothers-in-law, Kenneth Becker, Dan Kruse, and Bill Deutmeyer; four sisters-in-law, Grace (Larry) Davis, Dianne Ehrlich, Theresa (James) Elgin and Darlene (Ralph) Kramer and nieces and nephews.
