Willard L. Noonan, 92, formerly of Bernard, Iowa, died Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 5:10 a.m. at Shady Rest Care Center in Cascade, Iowa.
Friends and relatives of Willard may call from 2 to 8 p.m., Monday, May 2, 2016 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, Iowa, where a wake service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friends may also call after 9:00 a.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
Services for Willard will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Garryowen, Iowa, with Rev. Douglas Loecke officiating. Burial will be held in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Garryowen with full military honors afforded by the Cascade American Legion Post #528.

He was born July 17, 1923 on the family farm in rural Bernard, Iowa, son of Leo and Loretta (Coakley) Noonan. He is a graduate of the former St. Patrick's High School in Garryowen, Iowa.
He is a veteran, having served in the Army during World War II. After returning from the war he was united in marriage to Marie Meyer on September 10, 1947 at Holy Family Catholic Church New Melleray.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Parish in Garryowen, Iowa and a lifetime member of the Cascade American Legion Post 528.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Noonan of Bernard, IA; four children, Chuck (Amy) Noonan of Bernard, IA, Rich (Joyce) Noonan of Zwingle, IA, Bob (Vicki) Noonan, John (Mary Pat) Noonan all of Bernard, IA; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Noonan of Bernard, IA; 18 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; and a sister, Maurna O'Brien of Cascade, IA; sisters-in-laws, JoAnn Meyer of Bernard, IA and Doris (Gerry) Kutsch of Milwaukee, WI.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Ronald J. Noonan on August 11, 2006; and two daughters-in-law, Kay Noonan and Denise Noonan; a sister, Carlene McDonnell; brothers-in-law, Ray McDonnell, George O'Brien, Merlin Meyer, Ray and Virginia Heiar.

A Willard L. Noonan memorial fund has been established.
